Kickapoo downs Nixa 5-0/ JV loses 2-1

In the season opener for both teams Kickapoo looked like they were in mid-season form in beating Nixa 5-0.  The game was back and forth for the first 10 minutes but Kickapoo found the net first off of a defensive mistake.  The Chiefs would tally 3 more goals in the first half the last one coming on a questionable penalty kick call.  The Eagles would get things together in the second half.  They were much more organized and determined in their play.  The Chiefs would get a late goal in the second half for the final score.  With new faces in new places it was a tough first game but the guys played hard and improved throughout the game.

The JV Eagles lost a tough one to the Chiefs 2-1.  The game was a great battle with both teams getting good chances and defenses making big plays.  The Eagles had a lot of pressure on the Chiefs defense early but couldn’t find the net.  The Chiefs got goals late in the first half and took a 2-0 lead.  The second half was entertaining as well with the Eagles coming close throughout the half.  With about 10 minutes to go Drake Hughes hammered one home to cut the score in half.  The Eagles had some good chances late but were denied by the Chiefs.

The teams play Monday at Joplin with the JV playing first at 4:30pm at their High School field.
