Varsity loses to Joplin 4-0/ JV loses 1-0

The Eagles traveled to Joplin on Monday for their first away game and were beaten 4-0.  Joplin took it to the Eagles early and often both on the scoreboard and in their physical play.  They scored their first goal about 10 minutes in and got another a few minutes later on a penalty kick.  The Eagles came back and had two great chances of their own toward the end of the first half.  Kaleb Romero was fouled in the box and earned a pk but the keeper made a nice save.  A few minutes later Romero hit the post off of a breakaway.  Late in the first half Tanner Pesek injured his shoulder and we hope it is not serious.

Joplin opened the second half strong with a pair of early goals.  The Eagles would mount some attacks in the second half but just couldn’t get enought on their last touch to beat the keeper.

The JV lost another tough one in a very close game 1-0.  Joplin scored their goal mid-way through the second half.

The varsity plays this weekend in our tournament.  We open with Greenwood on Friday at 7:30pm at the JH.  Branson plays Carthage at 4pm with Kickapoo taking on Neosho at 5:45pm.
