Nixa takes 5th Place in the Christian County Tournament

After a rough start Friday night the Eagles rebounded for 2 wins on Saturday to take 5th place in the Christian County Tournament.  With the 2 wins their record now stands at 2-3.  On Friday the Greenwood Blue Jays had the better of the play and scored mid-way through the first half for a 1-0 lead.  The Jays would get two more in the second half and win 3-0.  It was a disappointing loss for the Eagles but they did create some chances but couldn’t find the final touch.  Shots on goal were 11-10 for the Jays.

The Eagles came to play on Saturday morning against Neosho and won 1-0.  They were sharp and played with a lot of heart.  Kaleb Romero got the goal, their first of the season, about 15 minutes into the game and the Eagles held on for the win.  The team played well and deserved the win even though the Wildcats had some dangerous scoring opportunities.  Goalie Marcus Fernandes made some key saves in securing the win.  It will be quite a rematch on Thursday in  Neosho.

The final game had the Eagles playing the upstart Branson Pirates in the Consolation Final.  The Eagles prevailed 1-0 but were quite lucky.  The Eagles jumped out to the early lead just a few seconds into the match with Tyler Krahenbuhl sent a nice ball into the box and found an open Kaleb Romero who had a nice finish.  Branson in their first year is already very competitive and could have won this game.  The Eagle defense bent but didn’t break and Fernandes again made some nice saves to secure their second victory and shutout.  We really miss having Coach Brenner around but he is doing an outstanding job with the Pirates.
