Nixa lost a heartbreaker last Thursday 2-1 to Neosho after two overtimes and penalty kicks. Their record stands at 3-4. Neosho opened the scoring in the first half off of a set play and it was well deserved because they dominated the early minutes. That goal did wake up the Eagles who played much better the rest of the way. There were many near misses but finally the Eagles broke through with about 10 minutes to play in regulation. Charlie Fenwick sent a ball into the middle that Nathan Massey headed down then shot which beat the Neosho keeper. Both teams had chances in the overtimes but couldn’t convert so the game was settled by pks. Neosho made their first 3 shots then missed their fourth. Nixa converted only 2 of their 5 pks with Chandler Hale and Josh Rose scoring. For the year Nixa is only 2 of 7 on pks.
The JV continued their winning ways with a 6-1 victory over the Wildcats which evened their record to 2-2. Luke Moore scored the first two with Chad Mills getting the assist on the second goal. Mills had the 3rd goal with Jameson McFadden getting the assist. Neosho was abel to cut the lead to two at the half. Nixa would get 3 more in the second half with goals coming from Juan Levy, Ryan Dubree and Calvin Wright. Drake Hughes assisted on Ryan’s goal. The JV have a tough week playing 5 games this week.
