Varsity Record Now 5-5/JV 4-4-1

The varsity Eagles are now 5-5 after splitting their last two games.  On Thursday they beat Webb City 4-1 for their first COC win in school history.  After being down 1-0 at the half, the Eagles came out with a purpose in the 2nd half.  They scored 3 goals in a 5 minute span early in the half then added one late for the final tally.  Kaleb Romero scored first off of a perfectly placed corner kick from Clinton Joslyn.  Khai Uyen Huynh scored the second goal which came from Joslyn to Romero right to Huynh who placed it in the corner of the net.  Chandler Hale broke free and beat the keeper for the third goal and Huynh got his second goal of the night heading in the final goal from Romero.

The team took on Waynesville on Friday and lost a tough one 2-1.  The Eagles came out well against the Tigers and missed a couple of opportunities early that could have made the difference.  It was great to see the guys play well early unlike the previous 3 games where they were down early on the scoreboard.  Waynesville would come back and put pressure on the Eagle defense but couldn’t convert.  The Tigers would score early in the second half and again 10 minutes later.  The Eagles had some good opportunities and finally scored with 10 minutes to play.  Nathan Massey sent a nice ball in on a free kick that KhaiUyen Huynh deflected off of his head which beat the keeper.  The Eagles fought hard but couldn’t find the game tying goal.  It was the end of a 5 game road trip that wasn’t easy on the players.  The shortest distance the team traveled was to Marshfield.  They went 3-2 on the road trip.  The team now has 4 home games in row with the Kickapoo Tournament the weekend of Oct. 10th.

The JV fought hard at the end of the week but just managed 1 win in their last 4 games.  The team was depleted but showed a lot of determination over the last 3 days.  The JV was unfortuanate to not score against Webb City and ended up with a 0-0 draw.  They rebounded well against Waynesville and beat them 2-1.  Drake Hughes headed in a nice cross from a corner kick from Luke Moore for the first goal and Jameson McFadden scored off of a breakaway.  The team just couldn’t find the net on Saturday in the Ozark JV Tournament losing to both Carthage and Ozark 1-0.  The schedule wasn’t nice to the Eagles but they fought hard and never gave up.
