The Varsity beat Rogersville 8-2 on Monday and beat Ozark 2-1 in the second overtime on Tuesday.Â Against Rogersville the Eagles dominated play from the beginning but Rogersville put up a good fight early.Â After taking 20 minutes to get their first goal the Eagles finished well the rest of the night.Â Goals were scored by Weston Hanger, KhaiUyen Huynh (2), Kaleb Romero, Tyler Bartell (2), and Nathan Massey.Â Â The last goal was an own goal.Â Assists went to Weston Hanger, Clinton Joslyn, KalebÂ Romero and RileyÂ Hughes.
The Ozark game was another classic.Â Â The Tigers came to play and had the Eagles on their heals tonight.Â The Eagle defense bent but didn’t break mostÂ of the night with goalie Marcus Fernandes playing a great game.Â After a scoreless first half, with Ozark having the better of the play, the Eagles came outÂ in the second half much more determined.Â KhaiUyen Huynh was taken down in the box and Josh RoseÂ converted the penalty kick for a 1-0 Nixa lead with 20 minutes left to play.Â Ozark would contnue to push forward and with 6 minutes to play Zach Moore broke free in the box and slotted a no angle shotÂ just inside the far post whichÂ tied the game at 1-1.Â The first overtime saw Nixa come close but miss the open net.Â 5 minutes into the second overtime Kaleb Romero slotted a ball through to Chandler Hale who beat a defender and finished the 1v1 with the keeper to win the game in dramatic fashion.Â The win brings the varsity Eagle record to 7-5 which is already theÂ sameÂ win total as all of last year.Â
The team would like to thank the band, cheerleaders, parents and fans who came out on Tuesday night to watch the Ozark game.Â It was a great atmosphere for high school soccer.
This season is taking a toll on the players, right now we have 5 players out with injuries… Tanner Pesek, Drake Hughes, Tyler Krahenbuhl, TylerÂ Durham, and Drake Trease.Â We hope they make a speedy recovery.
The JV picked up wins as well with a 5-0 win over Rogersville and aÂ 3-0 win over Ozark.Â In the Rogersville game the JV jumped out to a 4-0 lead at half and cruised to victory.Â Goals were scored by John Davis, Chad Mills and Drake Hughes.Â Against Ozark the team managed to get a goal in the first half by Jameson McFadden with Luke Moore assisting on the goal.Â Â The Eagles played better in the second half and tallied two more goals fromÂ Mills and Ryan Dubree.Â McFadden got an assist.Â Â Beating Ozark was sweet revenge for theirÂ 1-0 loss to the Tigers on the weekend.Â Shutouts were shared by Nathan Massey, Mason Young, and Nate Hoffman.Â The JV record is now 6-4-1.
The teams play district foe Parkview on Friday at home.Â We hope we can get a great crowd again on Friday.
