Nixa splits games with Parkview and Willard

The Nixa Eagles Varsity and JV lost thier games to Parkview last Friday but both bounced back for wins over Willard.  Against Parkview the Vikings came in and dominated the first half with the duo of Tim Griffin and Jared Moore combining for all three goals.  The last two goals were very disheartening with both being scored with under 2 minutes to go in the half.  The score at half could have been worse but Marcus Fernandes stopped two point blank breakaways to keep the Eagles in the game.  The Eagles were much more determined in the second half and played well but couldn’t find the net against a stingy Viking defense.  The JV Eagles lost a tough one 1-0.  The game winnig goal came with just 6 minutes to play in a very close and competitive match.

Both teams rebounded on Monday for wins against their rival the Willard Tigers.  The varisty got on the scoreboard early with Chandler Hale finding Kaleb Romero 8 minutes in for the only goal of the match.  On a rainy night the guys played well and moved the ball as well as they had all year.  The defense did a nice job keeping the potent scorers of Willard at bay.  Micah Wyssmann, Nathan Massey, Tyler Bartell, Josh Rose and Corey Cann did an outstanding job helping Marcus Fernandes get the shutout.  The varisty now is 8-6 heading into the Kickapoo Tournament this weekend.

The JV beat Willard 5-2.  Their record now stands at 7-5-1.  Goals were scored by Chad Mills, Calvin Wright, John Davis, Luke Moore, and Ryan Dubree.  Calvin Wright and Jameson McFadden assisted on goals tonight.  The team doesn’t play until Monday against Bolivar which is also senior night.
