Senior Night is tomorrow Oct. 13th against the Bolivar Liberators. Senior parents, please be there around 5:45pm.
The team played in the Kickapoo Tournament this weekend with mixed results. We play the tournament to see different teams from around the state and to be challenged. This year was no different. The team opened up against Rockwood Summit a St. Louis team. Summit had the better of the play for the first half but the Eagles held them scoreless for a 0-0 halftime score. Summit scored two goals early in the second half which would wake up the Eagles who played better late in the game but couldn’t find a good quality shot. After the 2-0 loss the Eagles would take on Liberty Saturday morning and it looked like the Nixa team had homecoming the night before giving up a goal less than a minute into the game. LIberty would go on to win 4-0 but the Eagles did have a few chances in both halves but couldn’t connect. The third game of a tournament is about heart. The teams are tired and the team that wins usually wants it more. The Eagles showed a lot of heart against Marshfield and won 4-1. The one negative about the game was Nixa giving up a goal in the first minute of the game again. This is something the team can’t continue to do. The guys did respond well to being behind by scoring 10 minutes later. Tyler Krahenbuhl hit a nice shot to tie the game. It was nice to have Tyler back after missing 4 games with a concussion. Kaleb Romero would give the Eagles the lead for good late in the first half. The second half had Romero scoring two more goals. One of those came off of a nice combination play between Micah Wyssmann and Weston Hanger who then sent a nice left – footed cross to Kaleb for the finish from the top of the 18.
The team plays Bolivar next who is having a great season again. We play Carthage on Thursday which could possibly be the COC championship.
