COC Champs

The Nixa Eagles beat the Branson Pirates 4-3 tonight.  The win means that Nixa and Carthage tie for the COC Championship with identical 5-1 records.  We are new to playing conference games so I believe we share the title even though we beat them head to head.  Congrats to the guys on a hard fought conference championship.

The Branson game was a bit disappointing in that we let the Pirates back into the game and had to hold on for the win.  Branson plays with such heart and they never gave up.  It would have been nice to jump up and down and feel good, but coming off of the field was a feeling of relief and we were thankful the game was over.  Nixa opened the scoring early and was up 2-0 at the half but were very fortunate that Branson missed a couple of opportunites late in the half.  Nixa scored two more in the first 15 minutes of the second half to go up 4-0 but Branson would come storming back.  They would score 3 in the final 20 minutes to make it close but the Eagles did enough to preserve the win.  Goals were scored by Kaleb Romero (2), KhaiUyen Huynh, and Chandler Hale with assists going to Westin Hanger, Romero, and Tyler Bartell.

On Monday the Eagles traveled to Glendale to take on the Falcons.  The Eagles came out and played well early but missed a couple of chances.  The Falcons would score 3 goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half.  The Eagles came out much better in the second half and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to get back in the game but Glendale got their 4th goal 5 minutes later.  The game got a bit rough at the end with numerous cards thrown and Glendale getting two more goals in the last 10 minutes of the game for a final of 6-2.

The guys play West Plains, Central (v only) and Hillcrest to finish out the regular season.
