First Week of the Girls Season

Things are already getting hectic.  The Varsity ladies opened up with a strong showing on Thursday winning 8-0 against West Plains.  The ladies were fired up to play and it showed.  Rachel Murphy opened the scoring midway through the first half with her first varsity goal and Jo Pavlowsky followed a few minutes later to go up 2-0 at the half.  Courtney Frerichs, Rachel Murphy, Kelsey Bartell, Vicki Rische, Ashlyn Robillard and Tatum Mangum scored in the second half.  Rische, Murphy, Bartell, and Kelsey Haist had an assist each with Kristin Miller getting the shutout.   Friday’s game at Lebanon was another story.  The team wasn’t as fired up like the day before and when you play a team like Lebanon you need to be ready.  The Lady Jackets were more intense and physical and took it to the Eagles winning 3-0.  It is tough to get up for that game the next day, we’ll have to get better at that quick with 5 games in 6 days this week.

The JV ladies are 2-0 with big wins against West Plains and Lebanon.  The ladies beat West Plains 6-0 with goals coming from Rebecca Kerr (2), Brooke Rowden, Jorday Murray (2), and Katie Bolton.  Jenny Hoffmann tallied an assist.  Liz Sutter and Allie Schleismann shared the shutout.  The team then beat Lebanon 3-0 with Rebecca Kerr netting 2 goals and Katie Bolton getting the other goal.  Katie Bolton and Jordan Hoffman each had an assist with Allie Schleismann getting the shutout.

The Ladies play Central tomorrow with the JV game time at 4pm.  Varsity will follow around 5:30pm.  The games will be at Harrison Stadium just East of Drury.

I’ll pass out to the ladies the concession stand schedule.  Be sure to look at when you will work, if you can’t make it that night call someone to switch.  Talk to Coach Palmer if there is a question.

A big thank you to the Turnbull’s and all of the parents that helped with the pasta dinner.  The team really appreciates it.  The food was very delicious.  We hope to have another one Monday April 27th.
