Nixa 4, Parkview 1

Nixa advances to the semi-final Wednesday against Glendale.  The game will be 5:30 at Ozark.

The Bartell’s will be hosting a pasta dinner Tuesday at 6pm for all players JV and Varsity.  Directions will will come later.

The game against Parkview was an incredible game for the Lady Eagles.  They played a great 80 minutes to beat Parkview 4-1.  Rachel Murhpy started the scoring about 10 minutes in when she took a pass from Kelsey Bartell, touched it to the middle of the field and hit a nice low shot back to the near post to put Nixa up 1-0.

The Eagles would continue to attack but with the wind at their backs Parkview would go forward and threaten Kristin Miller’s goal.  The defense held up well against Parkview’s scoring tandem of Stewart and Maertz.  With 10 minutes to go in the half Nixa woud break through when Courtney Frerichs made a nice run down the right side and crossed the ball toward the middle that came off the keeper right to an on-running Katie Bolton who scored what would be the game winning goal.

The Lady Eagles would come out strong in the second half but Parkview wouldn’t break early in the half.  About 10 minutes into the half Parkview took advantage of a collision when two Nixa defenders went down.  Jessica Maertz ran on the ball and beat Miller on the breakaway goal to cut the score to 2-1.  This seemed to make the Lady Eagles more determined and they continued to attack.

With 15 minutes to play Frerichs from the left side crossed the ball that was flicked on by Vicki Rische to Rachel Murphy who was able to just touch the ball by the keeper.  The final goal was from a nice buildup down the right side that found Murphy who sent the ball across to Bartell who hit a nice shot in the lower left corner.  The ladies played great and will need another great performance Wednesday against a very good Glendale team.
