Disappointing End to a Great Year

The Lady Eagles ended their season last Wednesday losing 3-0 to Glendale.  The Ladies came out fighting and went toe to toe with the Lady Falcons in the first half.  Both teams had chances with the best chance coming off of the foot of Rachel Murphy which hit the post then the keeper’s head and came out of the goal and not into the goal.  I don’t  think I have ever seen a shot like that not go in.  Glendale would take the lead with 5 minutes to go in the half off of a nice shot that hit the crossbar and came down just behind the line.  The second half saw the Lady Falcons attacking and they received two fortunate calls right on top of the box, the second one especially was questionable.  They converted on both shots and held possession well for the final 30 minutes for the final score of 3-0. The Lady Eagles fought hard all game but came up short against a talented team in Glendale.  The Lady Falcons have a great chance to advance to the final four.

The Lady Eagles had a great season.  There were many records set this year.  In parentheses is the former record.   Most wins – 16 (12), Best winning % – .640 (.500), Least losses – 8 (10), Most goals – 80 (71), Least goals against – 30 (37), Least goals against average – 1.2 (1.85), Most assists – 61 (52), Most points – 221 (194).  The team won its first tournament taking first in the Christian County Tournament.  This team was the best team in the history of Nixa soccer, boys or girls.  With the JV having the best winning percentage of any team in Nixa Soccer history there is no telling what these girls can do in the future.  Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.
