JV gets big win, stays undefeated/Varsity loses heartbreaker 3-2

Emilee Davis

The JV Lady Eagles defeated Glendale 1-0 to stay undefeated at 7-0-1.  The goal would come midway through the second half when Haylee Wagner found Dalyn Kut in front of the goal and Kut’s shot beat the keeper.  The JV ladies played a great game and almost found the net a few more times.  The defense is playing really well led by Emilee Davis and Jordan Hoffman in the middle with Hannah Fields and Taylor Stevens on the outside.  Lexi Stagner had a nice game in goal keeping the shutout.  Brooke Finley and Jordyn Hoskins did a great job controlling the central midfield.  Jenny Hoffmann and Kut played well on the outside midfield keeping the pressure on the Falcon defense.

Kelsey Bartell's Goal

The varsity lost a tough one to Glendale 3-2.  Glendale was given a free kick just outside the box in the first minutes of the game and they made the most of their opportunity on a nice shot just under the bar.  The Lady Eagles answered just a few minutes later when Jo Pavlowsky followed a ball that Lauren Moats struck that hit the post and deflected to Jo who tied the score.  The high quality play would continue throughout the first half with both teams getting close but not able to finish.  With just six minutes gone in the second half the Lady Eagles would take the lead on a nice pass from Moats to Kelsey Bartell who made a run into the box and her shot went just over the outstretched hands of the Falcon keeper.  About 10 minutes later the Falcons would get the equalizer when #11 Sprouse made a nice move on the left side of goal to free her up for a quality shot that beat Kristin Miller high to the near post that Miller got a hand on but not enough.  The Falcons would get the game winner 5 minutes later on a set piece from the left side that #6 Brewer flicked just inside the far post.  The Lady Eagles made it quite a finish and almost had the game tying goal a few times in the last minutes but just couldn’t put the ball away.  Both teams played well and should be commended for their high quality of play.   Nixa’s record is now 9-3.

Please come cheer on the Lady Eagles as they take on Neosho Tuesday night.  We will honor our Seniors in between games.  (approx 5:45pm).
