Nixa Beats Ozark With Last Minute Goal

Lady Eagles Celebrating

Two great teams went at it tonight at Harrison Stadium. Ozark got on the board first with an early goal.  Nixa came in the second half more determined and created several great scoring opportunities.   With 20 minutes left in the game Kelsey Bartell was taken down in the box. Kelsey Haist buried the penalty kick to tie the score.  With four minutes to play Ozark put a great ball into the box which Courtney Frerichs was able to save off the line to keep the score tied.

With less than a minute to go in the game, Brittany Kirkpatrick made a great run into the box from her left back position.   She found Jo Pavlowsky whose shot was initially saved but not held by the Ozark keeper,  Lauren Moats then pounced on the loose ball and  finished the game winner.   Ozark kicked off and the referee blew his whistle to end the game.

Nixa’s defense played a great game.  Abby Turnbull, Maddie Chandler, Shelby Zielke, Brittany Kirkpatrick and Anne Pierce all played great like they have all year.

Nixa moves on in the District Tournament and takes on the #1 Seed Parkview at JFK Stadium at 5pm on Wednesday.  Please wear your RED again and cheer the Lady Eagles on.
