DISTRICT CHAMPS!!
Sunday, May 23rd, 2010Nixa Eagles Advance To District 11 Final Against Kickapoo
Friday, May 21st, 2010We just heard from MSHSAA that we have been declared the winner of the suspended game from Wed. District games have the same rules as regular season games. If due to weather conditions the game can not be finished, but at least a half has been completed, the score when the game was called is the final score. If there is a tie then an alternate date will be agreed upon to finish the game. Initially all the coaches and the District Tournament Administrator were under the false assumption that post season rules were different than regular season and that a full 80 minutes needed to be played. We then agreed to play the second half on Friday. As everyone was leaving the game on Wednesday the referees brought up the fact that a half would represent a full game. Springfield’s administrators called MSHSAA that evening and it was ruled a win by Nixa.
After extensive deliberation by MSHSAA on how to proceed and the circumstances surrounding the postponement they determined last night that Nixa was the winner. Parkview protested the ruling (as we would have done if we were in their shoes). The state upheld their decision and we are the winner.
We will play Kickapoo, who defeated Glendale in the first overtime 3-2, tomorrow at 6:30pm at JFK Stadium. The bus will leave at 4:45 from the high school.
